Using Multiple Devices
Logger Pro can collect data using several devices simultaneously. The
supported devices are:
LabQuest
LabQuest Mini
LabPro
Go! Link
Go! Temp
Go! Motion
OHAUS balances
Vernier Spectrometer
WDSS
GPS
Watts up?
The second line in the toolbar contains icons for each connected device, followed by live readouts for each sensor column. Each icon is a button that can be used to bring up the sensor setup window.
A Few Rules for Using Multiple Devices
- No more than four devices of any kind, with no more than two of them being a combination of LabQuests, LabQuest Minis, or LabPros, can be used. For example, you can collect data from 1 LabPro, 1 LabQuest, and two WDSS interfaces or 2 LabQuests, a GPS, and an OHAUS balance. However, you cannot collect data from 2 LabQuests, 1 LabPro, and 1 WDSS simultaneously because you cannot have more than 2 LabQuests, LabQuest Minis, and/or LabPros.
- On Windows, no more than one OHAUS balance can be connected by USB.
- Logger Pro does not support collection from the following digital sensors on more than one interface:
- Photogate
- Drop Counter
- Radiation Monitor
- Rotary Motion Sensor
- Data collected from multiple USB devices will not be perfectly synchronized. If it is important that the data be collected at exactly the same time from each sensor, then connect all of your sensors to a single interface.
- When matching sensors saved in a file with sensors that are connected to the computer, Logger Pro will first try to match sensors that are on the same type of device. For example, a Go! Link with a Temperature Probe in the file will match with a Temp:Go! Link that's connected to the computer (even if there's also a Go! Temp connected to the computer). Similarly, a Go! Temp saved in a file will match up with a connected Go! Temp, instead of a Go! Link or LabPro with a Temperature Probe.
- If no match can be found on the same type of device, then it looks
for any possible match.
- If no appropriate match can be found at all, you see
the sensor confirmation
window.
- If you would like a particular file to assume that non-auto ID
sensors are connected, and hence to not bring up the sensor conflict
dialog as often, you can uncheck a flag in
the File Settings window.
