Interarchy 8 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.
To display FTP sites, Interarchy assumes the directory listing will look something like a normal UNIX listing - if it does not, Interarchy may not work. For more information on FTP listings, see the FTP List Specification section. If you are developing an FTP server or client, please read this specification.
You may distribute this program in any way you wish as long as you only distribute the unmodified Interarchy package, as downloaded from ftp.interarchy.com. You may NOT break Interarchy up into its component files and distribute parts of it separately.

Interarchy is one of the oldest Macintosh Internet clients still around. It started its life named Anarchie as an Archie (a very primitive FTP archive search engine) client (hence the name “an archie”, although pronounced Anarchy).
Anarchie combined FTP file transfer features with archie searching. In the years since its creation, it has continued to be one of the world’s most popular shareware programs and an indispensable file transfer and networking tool for many Mac users and webmasters.
Much of the functionality of several other products has been incorporated into Anarchie, and the resulting program has been renamed Interarchy. Functionality such as Network Traffic Watching first appeared in OT Stream Watcher and is now back with a vengeance in Interarchy.
In later versions of Anarchie (3.5 through 3.7), Stairways replaced the less-relevant archie functionality with an enhanced Sherlock-style search engine (bringing Sherlock searching to versions of Mac OS that couldn't run Sherlock), and mixing in the TCP/IP reporting and diagnostic capabilities of Mac TCP Watcher. Around this time Anarchie was renamed to Interarchy.
After that in version 4 we added support for Interface windows to allow tailoring of the user experience, and started the transition to native Mac OS X. Version 5 continued the transition and added many enhancements to the mirroring functionality as well as introducing the Net Disk automated mirroring system.
Version 6 was the first really complete Mac OS X version and reintroduced most of the lost Open Transport networking functionality. Taking advantage of Mac OS X functionality, version 6 also introduced SFTP and column view, and removed many of the file size and name limits of the old operating system.
Version 7 threw off the limits of the old operating system entirely and brought the power of Mac OS X to bear on the problems of transferring files, maintaining websites, and examining the network system, as well as adding support for the bold new user interface elements.
Version 8 expands on the facilities of Mac OS X, including new features like Universal Binary Intel support, Automator Actions, and Dashboard Widgets. At the same time, we enhanced the core functionality of Interarchy, adding WebDAV support (and hence iDisks), together with new secure options like HTTPS and FTP/SSL-TLS. Further user interface improvements included the combined New Connections window, and International support was enhanced by embracing UTF-8 throughout the program.
This program should do what we have described in this document. If it does not, you can simply stop using it. If you have purchased Interarchy, and within 30 days find that it does not do what we have described here, then you can request a refund and your money will be refunded and we will cancel your license.
