LabQuest Stream Sensor Setup
LabQuest Stream is a multi-channel interface that connects to your computer directly via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth®. Connect via USB if you are collecting at very high data-collection rates or collecting data over long periods of time. Connect via Bluetooth if it is required or beneficial for your experimental setup. For example, connecting via Bluetooth allows you to keep your computer further away from the water's edge during water quality testing.
Follow these steps to collect data with LabQuest Stream:
Connect via USB
- Connect LabQuest Stream to the USB port on your computer running Logger Pro. Note: The Bluetooth radio on LabQuest Stream will automatically turn off when LabQuest Stream is connected via USB to a computer.
- Connect a sensor to LabQuest Stream.
- If auto-ID sensors are found, live readings will be displayed on the screen. If a LabQuest Stream is found but your sensors are not identified, you should manually set up a sensor or open an appropriate experiment file.
- To start collecting data, click Collect . You can stop data collection at any time by clicking Stop .
Connect via Bluetooth
To collect data via Bluetooth, you must A) pair your LabQuest Stream with your computer and B) connect to LabQuest Stream in Logger Pro. Note: If you have not changed the name of your LabQuest Stream it will be identified by its serial number (found on the bottom of the device).
Part A: Pair LabQuest Stream with Your Computer
Tip: If you have used this LabQuest Stream with this computer, skip to Part B. If you are unsure continue with this Part.

Troubleshooting
- Verify that your LabQuest Stream is on (green LED is on) and the Bluetooth on LabQuest Stream is working (blue LED is flashing).
- Ensure you connect to the correct LabQuest Stream by verifying the serial number
- As each operating system has its own pairing procedure, please see help for your computer if you need more information about how to pair.
- Once LabQuest Steam has been paired with your computer, return to Logger Pro.
Part B: Connect to LabQuest Stream in Logger Pro
- Turn on LabQuest Stream if it is not already on (green LED for power is on).
- From the Logger Pro Experiment menu, choose Connect Interface > Wireless LabQuest Stream > Scan for Wireless LabQuest Stream.
- If your LabQuest Stream appears in the list, select your device and click Connect. Note: Verify the serial number; it can be easy to connect to the wrong interface in a classroom with multiple devices.
- Logger Pro will connect to LabQuest Stream and you are ready to connect a sensor and click Collect or open an experiment file.
- If you don't see your LabQuest Steam in the list, verify LabQuest Stream is on (green LED is on) and LabQuest Stream Bluetooth is working (blue LED is flashing). Then, click Rescan. Continue with the next step if LabQuest Stream does not appear in the list of available devices after rescanning.
- If Logger Pro can't find LabQuest Stream, the first troubleshooting step is to re-pair LabQuest Stream with your computer.
macOS
- Click Open Bluetooth Preferences, and pair the device. See Part A for troubleshooting.
- Once LabQuest Steam has been paired with your computer, return to Logger Pro and choose Connect Interface > Wireless LabQuest Stream > Scan for Wireless LabQuest Stream from the Experiment menu.
- Select your device from the list and click Connect.
Windows
- Open Bluetooth settings from the Windows Settings dialog, and pair LabQuest Stream with your computer. See Part A for troubleshooting.
- Once LabQuest Steam has been paired with your computer, return to Logger Pro and click Retry. Logger Pro will connect to LabQuest Stream and you are ready to connect a sensor and start data collection or open an experiment file.
Additional Troubleshooting
- LabQuest Stream will go to sleep to conserve battery power, so first, verify that LabQuest Stream is on (green LED is on) and that the Bluetooth on LabQuest Stream is working (blue LED is flashing).
- Verify that your computer's Bluetooth is turned on.
- In a classroom with multiple interfaces, it can be easy to pair with the wrong LabQuest Stream or connect to someone else's interface in Logger Pro. Verify that the serial number on the back of the LabQuest Stream matches the serial number of the device that is paired with your computer.
