Manually Set Up a Sensor

Below you will find generic directions for manually setting up a sensor with your interface. You may need to do this if you have sensors that do not auto-ID. However, it is usually easier to set up Logger Pro for a particular experiment using an experiment file rather than manually configuring the software. Unless you need a setup not found in the supplied experiment files, you should open an experiment file that corresponds to your sensor.

  1. Attach the interface to a USB port or Serial port (Windows only) on your computer running Logger Pro.
  2. Connect the sensor to a compatible channel.
  3. Choose Set Up Sensors, from the Experiment menu, then select your interface. This will open the Sensor Setup dialog.
  4. Set up the sensor by either clicking and dragging a sensor icon from the sensors catalog to the channel box or by clicking the empty channel box and selecting Choose Sensor, then selecting the sensor name from the list.

A new column in the data table will be created, which will be plotted in the main graph. Note: If you had already collected data before you set up a new sensor, a new column will be added to the column marked "Latest," but the old data points will remain.
