You can click and hold down the mouse button anywhere on a helper object to move it.
For all non-helper objects; i.e. graphs and tables, select the object by clicking it once. Move the cursor over the edge of the highlighted object until the cursor turns into a hand and hold down the mouse button while grabbing and moving the object.
You can also use the keyboard to help grab objects and move them:
