Drop Counter

The Drop Counter is an optical sensor that accurately records the number of drops of titrant added during a titration.

Collecting Data with a Drop Counter

  1. Connect the cable of the Vernier Drop Counter to a DIG/Sonic channel and your pH Sensor (or some other electrode) to Channel 1.
  2. Start Logger Pro. If your Drop Counter does not auto-ID, you will need to set it up manually. You can also open an experiment file by choosing Open from the File menu and opening the Probes & Sensors folder. In the Drop Counter folder, you will find experiment files that will work for many of the activities that are performed with a Drop Counter.
  3. If you choose to do so, calibrate the Drop Counter and/or the pH Sensor (or other sensor you are using) at this time. You can also choose to use the calibrations that are stored for these sensors.
  4. Click Collect, to begin data collection. Logger Pro will take a pH reading and a volume reading every time a drop passes through the Drop Counter slot.
  5. Click Stop when data collection is complete.

For complete details on using the Drop Counter, please consult the Drop Counter booklet that comes with the sensor.
