Strip Chart

Strip charts display time-based data that is updated periodically. Each new data point gets added on the rightmost edge of the chart and the chart moves left like a strip of paper.

This setup is ideal for long-term experiments where you wish to view only the most recently collected data.

Creating a Strip Chart

There are two ways to create a strip chart: inserting a new graph or modifying an existing graph.

Inserting a New Graph

Select Additional Graphs > Strip Chart from the Insert menu. The new graph will look like a standard cartesian graph, but it has strip chart functionality.

Modifying an Existing Graph

  1. Access the Graph Options dialog by double-clicking an existing graph.
  2. Select the Axes Options tab.
  3. In the X-Axis section, change Scaling to Strip Chart and select Done.

Changing Axes Columns

To change what is plotted on a graph, move the cursor over either axis label and click the label. The Axis Options dialog is displayed. In the dialog you can select a column or columns for display. You can also change the what is plotted on each axis by choosing Graph Options from the Options menu.
