Calculating decay rates (easy math)

ln (At/Ao) = -kt

A0 is temp in °C at the beginning

At is temp in °C at some time later

t is time in seconds

time is 1200 seconds

rate is 10 seconds per sample

use two temp sensors (one in the device, one out)

calculate k values for three different devices

example:

Metal container, open

temp 1: 45

temp 2 (outside) 22

difference = 23 °C beginning

1200 seconds later:

temp 1: 35

temp 2: 22

difference = 13°C

ln(13/23) = .57

.57/1200 = 4.75 x 10-4
