This week: Biodiversity to soils
Please read this summary from another review manual:
http://physics.hpa.edu/physics/apenvsci/apprep_mgh/ch14_earth.pdf
Much of this will be review for you, we want to make sure we don't miss anything, as well as keeping what we have already covered fresh in your mind.
Here is the second reading for the week:
http://physics.hpa.edu/physics/apenvsci/apes_barrons/apes_barrons_3rd_edition_2009/barrons%20ch01%20earth.pdf

Both of these are review readings, so don't be surprised if there is less explanation than in your textbook.

Here is the link for the soils chapter of the text:
http://physics.hpa.edu/physics/apenvsci/enger/ch13/enger%20ch%2013.pdf

I think all of you know how to get the lecture notes from the chapter here:
http://physics.hpa.edu/physics/apenvsci/enger/ch13/

This chapter on soils is very important, particularly when you consider that without soils, there is no food. With your experience with population growth, as well as your new knowledge of biodiversity, these will fit nicely.

Friday we will have a test on soils, so we should take time this week to review the readings and go over your questions.

Please complete this set of questions before class Wednesday:

Some advice: Your reading is most effective when you take notes on what you read, as you read it. If you print out the pdfs above, you may find your notes are more complete and informative.
