Troubleshooting... Logger Pro Can't Find My Calculator
Try to following troubleshooting tips if Logger Pro is not finding your calculator.
- The first thing to try is to select the appropriate port in the drop-down port list in the Import dialog. Click Rescan to try to connect again.
- Be sure that the connector is firmly inserted into the calculator link port. Click Rescan to try to connect again.
Using a Serial Cable with a Windows Computer
If you are using a serial cable (black or gray), check the following items:
- The
serial port may be in use by another program such as a
fax or dial-up networking program. Quit other programs that
might use the serial. Often an internal modem will disable one of the
serial ports (Windows). Disable or remove the internal modem to remove
the conflict.
- The communications cable is not firmly
attached or is attached to the wrong port. On Windows computers it is
difficult to tell from the back of the computer which port is COM1,
COM2, COM3 or COM4. Consult your owner's manual.
- Confirm that the cable is properly attached to both the computer and the calculator.
- The cable could be bad; try using another cable.
Using TI-89, TI-89 Titanium, TI-92, TI-92 Plus or TI Voyage 200
If you cannot import data into Logger Pro from the TI-89, TI-89 Titanium, TI-92, TI-92 Plus or TI Voyage 200, do the following:
Logger Pro
only allows the importing of "approximate" data from the family of
calculators including the TI-89, TI-92, TI-92 Plus and Voyage 200. To
ensure that Logger Pro will be able to import data from your
calculator, the calculator must be set to approximate mode. To set your
calculator to approximate mode:
- Press [MODE].
- Move the cursor down to Exact/Approx...
- Move the cursor to the right to expand the menu of choices.
- Move the cursor to 3:Approximate.
- Press [ENTER] twice to save the change. The DataMate program will automatically set your calculator to the approximate mode.
Also,
Vernier calculator programs (Physics, Chembio, DataMate, etc.) for the
TI-89, TI-89 Titanium, TI-92, TI-92 Plus or TI Voyage 200 place
collected data in a data set called "cbldata." This is what you want to
import into Logger Pro. Please note that creating calculated
columns in the cbldata set will prevent that set from getting imported.
For example if you created a column by adding 273 to another column,
e.g. c3=c2+273, this new column will prevent the transfer of cbldata to
Logger Pro. To solve the problem, use the Data/Matrix editor on the calculator to delete any new calculated columns that you have added.
