Troubleshooting... Incorrect Data
You may receive apparently incorrect data from the sensor.
Here are some things to check:
- Did
you connect or change the range of the sensor after opening the file?
This can result in the wrong calibration being used. Re-open the file
with the sensors attached.
- Are the units not what you expected? Vernier sensors auto-ID to SI units, so double-check the units.
- Has
the sensor been disconnected, or is there a bad connection? Check for
this by changing the sensor conditions, such as pushing on a Force
Sensor. Make sure that the sensor is firmly connected to the interface
and that the interface is firmly connected to the computer. If the
values change, the sensor is connected.
- Is the
calibration bad? If a custom calibration is done incorrectly, the
readings will be off. Reopen the file or select a different stored
calibration. As a last resort you can perform your own calibration. See
How to Calibrate a Sensor.
- The sensor you are using may not be working properly. Try using a different sensor.
